The checks are rolled in the mod Discord chat for ease of tracking and record-keeping! The response to the attempt will then include that roll, yes. Essentially, there will be a specific thread where you will tell us what your character is attempting, and then we will follow up by replying to your comment there until a resolution to the attempt is reached!
Force Distrust has been up to player interpretation in the past, generally for the chance to make circumstances more favorable to the Warlock. This did sometimes involve sowing chaos, such as you described. However, transparently, we have been working on retooling path actions in the interest of making them more balanced, fun to play with, and easy to understand! Force Distrust is one of the actions slated for revision. So unfortunately, we don't have a precise answer for how it works at this time, but you are free to play with the previous interpretation of the path action if you'd like to make use of it on the TDM.
