Hey, thanks for the good question! Unfortunately, due to the nature of the overarching plot and home worlds being destroyed, canon updates still aren't feasible. The only way you could bring a character from a later canon point than the original application is by clean-slating them and having them arrive without memories or skills gained in Balance.
